Always Somebody
Full Confession (Submitted Anonymously) - I absolutely hate the terms “babybat” and “ElderGoth”- Goth is a community where all people are accepted, and we all love the same things, just as much as everyone else in the community. Why should there be “levels” of Goth-iness? What is it that REALLY separates babybats from ElderGoths, other than their age? How do you even know you’re not a “babybat” anymore, and who decides if you are one in the first place? I loathe these two terms.
Wow. See, I never think of these things in terms of “levels,” like there’s a hierarchy. I’ve always used it as a way of connoting experience, and experience does NOT connote worthiness. Both contribute to the community in their own ways. There’s no shame in that, and I find no shame in differentiating between the qualities each brings.
Full Confession (Submitted Anonymously) - i honestly envy the gothic subculture for all it’s beauty. i really do wish that i could experience the subculture myself, but because i’m 20 i’m afraid that i won’t assimilate easily due to my age
I’m sorry, is this meant to imply they feel too young or too old? I’m 39 and didn’t start earnestly looking into the subculture until 3 or 4 years ago, only fully delving into it around one year ago. If you like gothic things, then you like them! If other people like those same things, they’ll relate to you. What does age have to do with that?
